Lange subsequently served as Abbado's assistant with the Berlin Philharmonic, the Mozart Orchestra in Bologna, and the Lucerne Festival Orchestra. He joined the conductor roster at the Komische Oper Berlin in 2007 and became its chief conductor in 2010. He later served as general music director of the Hessian State Theatre in Wiesbaden from 2017 to 2021.
