A $100 Million Asking Price for YSL
Kodak Black has set a staggering price tag for his services. During a July 9 livestream, the Florida rapper responded to a high-profile recruitment pitch from Young Thug, insisting on a $100 million signing bonus and a collaborative album with Mariah The Scientist before he would even entertain a deal to join YSL Records.
Young Thug’s Public Pitch
The overture began in late June, shortly after Kodak Black confirmed his status as a free agent. Following his departure from Capitol Records, Young Thug took to social media to publicly court the “Super Gremlin” artist.

“If he would do a deal with me, I would give that boy whateva he think he want #NoCizzy,” Young Thug wrote.
Closing the Capitol Records Chapter
The offer landed in the wake of Kodak Black’s exit from Capitol Records, where he had signed a multimillion-dollar deal in 2022. That agreement followed an eight-year tenure at Atlantic Records. His time at Capitol yielded the 2023 album When I Was Dead and concluded with the early June release of Kodak the Blessing.
Conditions Set on the Livestream
Facing fan questions during his July 9 broadcast, Kodak Black addressed the proposal with a mix of skepticism and specific ambition. He pointedly referenced Young Thug’s open-ended promise to meet his demands.
“Yeah, Thug talking about whatever I think I want if I do a deal. Oh yeah?” Kodak Black said. “Well sh*t. I need a collab album with Mariah The Scientist, I need a hundred millions…”
As of mid-July, neither Young Thug nor YSL Records has formally responded to the request. The artist offered no further details on the business framework of a potential partnership.
Navigating Label Independence
This standoff arrives after a period of intense output for the rapper. His exit from Atlantic Records marked the end of a six-album commitment, which closed with the project Pistolz & Pearlz.
