Layvin Kurzawa Bridges Cooperation Between Persib Bandung and France

JAKARTA, Indonesia – Layvin Kurzawa and Andrew Jung are bringing a French influence to Persib Bandung, strengthening the sporting ties between Indonesia and France. The pair, along with Persib coach Bojan Hodak, were present at the French Residence in Jakarta on Tuesday, March 24, 2026.

Their visit wasn’t directly related to upcoming Super League matches, as the league is currently paused for international fixtures. Instead, the visit aimed to solidify the growing relationship between France and Indonesia in the realm of sports, with Persib Bandung and its French players serving as key representatives.

Glenn Sugita, Main Director of PT Persib Bandung Dignity, also attended the event.

Persib Jersey Presented to French Ambassador

In a symbolic gesture of partnership, Persib Bandung presented jerseys of Layvin Kurzawa and Andrew Jung to the French Ambassador to Indonesia, Fabien Penone.

“It is a great honor for me to welcome you today at Wisma France. We are very happy to be able to welcome the management of Persib Bandung and the players,” said Ambassador Penone. “I also want to thank Glenn (Sugita) who gave the French touch to Persib Bandung.”

“We are very happy, especially because you, Glen, Andrew (Jung), and Layvin, can approach to Indonesia,” Penone added.

The French government is keen on expanding cooperation with Indonesia, building on President Prabowo’s visit during Bastille Day celebrations last year. Ambassador Penone highlighted the desire to diversify cooperation across sectors, including defense, culture, and sports.

“Because French and Indonesian people are sports lovers, especially football,” Penone stated.

Kurzawa expressed his honor at being a part of this burgeoning partnership. “Thank you for welcoming us. Thank you also to everyone who is here. As I said, if we can develop football in Indonesia, we will be very happy,” said Kurzawa, who joined Persib Bandung during the mid-season transfer window.
