Supporting Hockey Diversity with 24 Degrees of Color
A cornerstone of the Kings’ outreach is their partnership with 24 Degrees of Color, a skating program dedicated to diversifying the sport of hockey. As the 2022-23 season, the Kings Care Foundation has contributed nearly $150,000 to 24 Degrees of Color, which has successfully introduced over 1,000 new players to ice sports. Demonstrating a deepened commitment, the Foundation is increasing its annual support by 100%, allocating $100,000 for the current season.
Bike Giveaway Celebrates MLK and Black History Month
in February, coinciding with Martin Luther King Jr. Day and Black History Month, the LA Kings, in collaboration with Bikes for kids, will visit Figueroa St. Elementary. Kings staff will assemble and donate over 60 bicycles to students who submitted essays reflecting on dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s “I Have A Dream” speech. This marks the fifth bike giveaway organized by the team, bringing the total number of donated bikes to 75.
The LA Kings’ ongoing efforts underscore their dedication to fostering a more inclusive and accessible hockey community, expanding the reach of the “We Are All Kings” program, and positively impacting the lives of young people in the Los Angeles area.
