North Central Collage’s Shenita Lawson Named CCIW Wrestler of the Week
NAPERVILLE, Ill. (November 26, 2025) – North Central College women’s wrestler Shenita Lawson has been recognized as the College conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) Wrestler of the Week, the league announced Tuesday, November 25th. This honor comes after Lawson secured a significant upset victory in the Cardinals’ recent dual meet against Grand Valley State University. https://www.cciw.org/
this is the first CCIW Wrestler of the Week award for Lawson in her career and the second for North Central College this season. Riley Rayome previously earned the distinction on november 4th.
Lawson’s Upset Victory
During the November 23rd dual meet against No. 3-ranked grand Valley State University, Lawson delivered a standout performance in the 180-pound weight class.Despite the Cardinals ultimately falling too the Lakers with a narrow 23-21 score, Lawson secured a 9-7 decision win against No. 2-ranked Sabrina Nauss. Lawson herself is ranked fourth in the 180-pound weight class.
Upcoming Match & Special Tribute
North Central College will host Augustana college for its first home dual of the season on Wednesday, November 26th, at 1 p.m. inside Gregory Arena. The CCIW dual will be followed by the men’s match.
In a special tribute, both the men’s and women’s Cardinal wrestling programs will honor the legacy of the late Al Carius, North Central’s esteemed men’s cross country coach, and the cross country program by wearing custom candy-striped singlets. https://www.northcentralcardinals.com/
