LDA Chief John Coleman Appointed New Daa Chief Executive

John Coleman Takes Over Daa Chief Executive Role

John Coleman, the chief executive of the Land Development Agency, will become the new chief executive of aviation group Daa in the new year, taking the reins on a seven-year term. Daa announced the appointment on Tuesday, filling a permanent vacancy left after Kenny Jacobs stepped down following a High Court settlement and voluntary departure.

Nick Cole, the deputy chief executive of Daa, has overseen operations while the board conducted its search for a permanent leader. Coleman will take charge of a state-owned aviation group that encompasses Dublin Airport, Cork Airport, an international division, and the retail business Aer Rianta International.

Commercial Track Record Drives Daa Board Appointment

Daa Chairman Gary Owens stated that Coleman brings a proven track record of engaging with commercial organizations on behalf of the Irish state and seeking innovative solutions to address national needs. Owens added that Coleman’s familiarity with navigating complex planning and regulatory systems will prove valuable as the group advances long-term development plans for Dublin and Cork airports.

Coleman brings extensive financial and executive experience to the role. Since 2018, he has led the Land Development Agency. Before that, he served as the chief financial officer at the National Asset Management Agency starting in 2011. Coleman is a graduate of University College Dublin and a chartered accountant.

Future Growth Plans for Irish Aviation

“I feel privileged to be joining the talented and dedicated team at Daa as we unlock the next phase of growth, strengthen our position as a world-class airports and international aviation business, and continue connecting Ireland with opportunity for decades to come,” Coleman said regarding his upcoming appointment.

While Coleman prepares to transition into the aviation group, his departure leaves a vacancy at his previous organization. The Land Development Agency expects to begin the search for a new permanent chief executive in the coming weeks.
