LDz Cargo to Re-Auction Diesel Locomotives in March
LLC “LDz Cargo,” a subsidiary of JSC “Latvijas dzelzceļš” (LDz), will re-offer two diesel locomotives for purchase through electronic auctions in early March. This follows a previous auction held at the end of January, according to information released on the “LDz Cargo” website via LETA.
Locomotives and Auction Details
The locomotives available for purchase are “2TE10M-3449” and “2TE10U-0218.” The starting price for each locomotive is set at €160,000, with a bidding increment of €100.
In the prior auction in January, the starting price for both locomotives was €177,600. The upcoming auction will be conducted on the electronic auction platform “auctioncargo.ldz.lv” from March 5 at 10:00 to March 6 at 12:00.
Company Performance and Restructuring
In 2024, “LDz Cargo” reported a turnover of €100.365 million, a decrease of 25.3% compared to 2023. The company’s profit likewise significantly declined, reaching €29,219.
As part of a reorganization in October 2025, two LDz subsidiaries, “LDz ritošā sastāva serviss” and “LDz loģistika,” were merged into “LDz Cargo.” The LDz group also includes “LatRailNet,” responsible for infrastructure fees and capacity allocation, and the security company “LDz apsardze.”
Recent Locomotive Sale
In October 2025, “LDz Cargo” successfully auctioned one diesel locomotive, “TEP70-0230,” for €80,200. However, two other locomotives, “TEP70-0268” and “TEP70-0267,” with starting prices of €89,200 and €84,800 respectively, were not sold.
