Fidelity Investments Hiring Lead VBA/Python Principal Software Engineer

Fidelity Investments is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Lead VBA/Python Principal Software Engineer to join its FAMS Investment Tools Development team. This role focuses on the development of a new Systematic Investment platform for alpha generation, portfolio construction, and trading.

Role and Responsibilities

The Lead VBA/Python Principal Software Engineer will be responsible for:

  • Interfacing with Portfolio Analysts to integrate new models and research into ITD tools using Python and VBA.
  • Performing requirements gathering, analyzing existing solutions, and providing solutions using ITD languages/frameworks.
  • Developing user-friendly interfaces for real-time monitoring of P&L, order tracking, and portfolio performance.
  • Collaborating with other technology team members in a dynamic and fast-paced environment to build scalable, reliable, and highly available technology solutions.

Required Skills and Experience

Candidates must possess:

  • 9+ years of hands-on experience in software development within the financial domain.
  • Strong financial domain knowledge, including Equity/FI Markets and Reference data.
  • Experience working in a buy-side environment with exposure to Front Office tooling.
  • Strong design skills using Python/Excel for Front Office tooling.
  • Highly skilled proficiency with Java or Python (Design, Develop, Test, Debug, Deploy).
  • Experience with UI development using Angular & RESTful APIs is a plus.
  • Understanding of investment management processes, security analytics, investment workflow, or fund accounting.
  • Working experience with derivatives, including futures, forwards, and/or swaps is a plus.
  • Experience deploying solutions to AWS cloud (EKS) environment and a proven understanding of CI/CD & DevOps.
  • Exposure to test automation frameworks (unit & integration).
  • A Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or Advanced Mathematics; or a Bachelor’s degree in a related field and a CFA or FRM.

A strong understanding of Excel/VBA programming is considered a plus.

Team and Compensation

The position is part of the Asset Management Technology (AMT) team, which provides worldwide technology and support to Investment Management, Research, Trading, and Investment Operations functions. The base salary range for this position is $107,000 – $216,000 USD per year, with placement varying based on experience, location, and other factors. The total compensation package may too include bonus or other variable compensation, as well as a comprehensive benefits package including healthcare, retirement plans, paid time off, and educational assistance. Hybrid Work Model

Most roles at Fidelity are Hybrid, requiring associates to work onsite every other week (all business days, M-F) in a Fidelity office. This does not apply to Remote or fully Onsite roles. Please consult with your recruiter for the specific expectations for this position.
