Lobos Fall to Colorado State in High-Scoring Contest

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — The New Mexico Lobos women’s basketball team suffered a 66-46 defeat against the Colorado State Rams on Saturday, Feb. 14, 2026, following a dominant third quarter performance by the Rams.

Game Recap

The Lobos started strong with an 8-0 run in the first quarter after initially trailing 4-2. Although, Colorado State responded with an 11-0 run to close out the opening period, taking a 19-12 lead.

In the second quarter, the Rams extended their lead to as much as 11 points, but the Lobos rallied late in the half with an 8-2 run to reduce the deficit to 31-27 at halftime.

The third quarter proved decisive, as Colorado State launched a 19-0 run, building a 23-point lead that the Lobos were unable to overcome. The Rams’ success from beyond the arc significantly contributed to their victory, shooting 50% (12-24) from three-point range, while the Lobos struggled, hitting only 2-20 from distance.

Alyssa Hargrove led the Lobos in scoring with 12 points, adding 5 rebounds and 1 assist.

Looking Ahead

The Lobos will now focus on their upcoming road game against the Grand Canyon University Antelopes on Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2026.

“We demand to arrive in focused tomorrow, ready for GCU and to do the game plan, have effort, energy, like do the things we can control, and coach will be happy with results and we’ll be happy with the results if we have effort,” Hargrove said.
