Valérie Lemercier debuts song on Quelle Époque!

Valérie Lemercier brought a stark digital reality to prime-time television on October 24, debuting her comedic single “N’envoie jamais” on France 2’s talk show Quelle Époque! to target the sending of unsolicited explicit photographs to women online.

Sat at the piano before host Léa Salamé and studio guests, the actress and comedian paired a calm melody with blunt, cautionary lyrics. "Even with millions of pixels, is it worth the candle?", she sang, urging listeners to keep such inappropriate images hidden away.

The performance was framed as a direct piece of prevention aimed at younger audiences. Before striking the keys, Lemercier walked directly up to a young boy in the audience, told him the song was specifically for him, and later joked with him about whether the advice hit home.

Guest Hugo Clément pulled out his own phone to record the musical moment as plateau attendees clapped along in rhythm. Written alongside authors and composers Doriand and Renaud Rebillaud under the artistic direction of Nicolas Valois, the single is now preparing for an official release across digital streaming services next week.

Stage Preview for Upcoming Olympia Run

The televised preview offers a first look at material from Lemercier’s upcoming stage production, 10+1 exceptionnelles, which blends humor, singing, and dancing. Studio audiences responded with immediate laughter and joined in during the broadcast.

Lemercier is booked to perform her new show at the Olympia from December 22, 2026, through January 5, 2027, featuring a run of eleven total representations that includes a special New Year’s Eve performance.

Legislative Urgency and the Digital Landscape

The television appearance arrives on the heels of major legislative action. The French National Assembly adopted a bill against sexist and sexual violence on October 13, establishing a specific criminal offense for sending intentional explicit images that carries penalties of up to one year in prison and a 15,000-euro fine.

The timing underscores a widespread problem. Statistics show that 53% of French women aged 18 to 35 have received such unsolicited images.

A Continuing Voice for the Movement

Lemercier previously took the spotlight at the 2024 César Awards ceremony, where she voiced firm support for the MeToo movement and praised the women who spoke out against abuses.
