Logan Paul’s Pokémon Card Sells for Record $16.5 Million

A Pikachu Illustrator Pokémon card, previously owned by YouTuber Logan Paul, has been sold at auction for a record-breaking $16.492 million, solidifying its status as the most expensive Pokémon card ever sold. The sale, finalized on February 16, 2026, at Goldin Auctions, surpasses Paul’s previous purchase price of $5.2 million for the card in 2021.

The ‘Holy Grail’ of Pokémon Cards

The Pikachu Illustrator card is exceptionally rare, with only approximately 41 copies in existence. This particular card is graded a PSA 10 Gem Mint, making it the highest possible condition and significantly increasing its value. Guinness World Records recognized Paul’s initial purchase in 2021 as the “most expensive Pokémon trading card sold at a private sale.”

From Auction Block to Necklace and Back

Paul notably wore the card as part of a custom, diamond-encrusted necklace during his WWE debut at WrestleMania 38, with the necklace itself valued at $75,000. The card and necklace were sold together in the recent auction.

A.J. Scaramucci Acquires the Card

The winning bid came from A.J. Scaramucci, founder of Solari Capital and son of former White House communications director Anthony Scaramucci, who accepted the card in person. Paul expressed his sentiments about parting with the card on Instagram, writing, “Goodbye my friend.”

Pokémon as an Investment

Paul has been a vocal advocate for investing in collectibles, particularly Pokémon cards, suggesting they have outperformed the stock market. He highlighted that Pokémon as an asset class has seen a rise of over 3,000% in the last 20 years. In December 2025, Paul announced his plans to auction the card, urging young investors to consider collectibles over traditional stock market investments.

Historical Significance

Goldin Auctions Co. Described the card as embodying the qualities of a “Holy Grail” collectible: a timeless design, exclusivity, and a unique story that captures the attention of collectors. The auction represents one of the most significant offerings of a Pokémon card in the history of the hobby.
