Woodbine Mohawk Park Announces Winter Series Lineup and Regional Restriction Changes

Woodbine Entertainment released full details for its upcoming Winter Series events at Woodbine Mohawk Park, introducing a significant eligibility restriction for two of its most popular programs. While returning favorites like the Niagara and Valedictory series remain open, the Blizzard and Snowshoe series will now be restricted to Ontario Sired and/or Bred, Woodbine Entertainment reported. Nominations for all four events close on December 1, requiring a $100 fee per event. Each of the four series features an identical financial structure consisting of two $30,000 preliminary legs followed by a $60,000 added-money final.

Niagara and Valedictory Pacing Schedules Set for December

The winter schedule kicks off in mid-December with events targeted at three-year-old pacers. The Niagara Series is open to three-year-old pacing fillies who are non-winners of $60,000 lifetime as of midnight on October 31, 2026, with no allowances permitted. Its first preliminary leg runs on Friday, December 11, followed by the second leg on Friday, December 18, and the $60,000 final on Saturday, December 26. Running concurrently, the Valedictory Series caters to three-year-old pacing colts and geldings meeting the exact same lifetime earnings restriction of $60,000 as of October 31, 2026. The Valedictory opening leg takes place on Saturday, December 12, with the second leg scheduled for Saturday, December 19, culminating in its final on Saturday, December 26.

Blizzard and Snowshoe Restriction Shifts for January

The shift toward provincial residency and breeding requirements takes effect in January with the Blizzard and Snowshoe series. The Blizzard Series is restricted to Ontario-sired or Ontario-bred three- and four-year-old pacing fillies and mares that are non-winners of two races or $30,000 lifetime as of midnight on October 31, 2026. Leg 1 of the Blizzard goes postward on Friday, January 15, 2027, with Leg 2 on Friday, January 22, 2027, and the final on Saturday, January 30, 2027.

Similarly, the Snowshoe Series limits participation to Ontario-sired or Ontario-bred three- and four-year-old pacing colts, horses, and geldings meeting the non-winners of two races or $30,000 lifetime threshold as of October 31, 2026. The Snowshoe opens on Saturday, January 16, 2027, runs its second leg on Saturday, January 23, 2027, and concludes with its final on Saturday, January 30, 2027.
