Lombard Odier: Driving Wealth Stewardship for Asia’s High-Net-Worth Families

Swiss private bank Lombard Odier is positioning its two centuries of family-business heritage as a core advantage in managing wealth for Asia’s first- and second-generation entrepreneurs, according to company executives. Managing over 320 billion Swiss francs in client assets, the institution emphasizes stewardship and sustainability to attract high-net-worth families navigating transitions from founder-led to family-led enterprises.

Stewardship and Succession in Asia

Asia’s high-net-worth individuals face complex generational shifts, requiring wealth management models rooted in continuity. Lombard Odier, operating as an eighth-generation independent family business founded 229 years ago, aligns directly with this ethos, according to Omar Shokur, Asia Head of private clients. Shokur noted that founding families remain intimately involved with the workings of the bank, giving the institution a shared perspective with Asian clients focused on legacy protection and succession.

The bank’s focus on long-term planning has gained external recognition. Lombard Odier was named the world’s best private bank for Succession Planning Expertise in the Euromoney Private Banking Awards 2025 and celebrates its wins across six categories at the WealthBriefingAsia and WealthBriefingAsia Greater China Awards 2025, according to company announcements.

Shifting Wealth Strategies and Discretionary Portfolios

Over the past five years, client priorities across Asia have evolved in response to global economic shifts and regulatory changes. According to Lombard Odier, families are moving beyond traditional equities and fixed income toward purpose-led planning, thematic asset allocation, and sustainable investing. Insights from the bank’s Rethink Family Wealth guide indicate that regional family offices are increasingly adopting diversified frameworks that include private markets, alongside a growing interest in tangible assets such as art and wine.

This shift has coincided with an increasing uptake of discretionary portfolio management (DPM) across the region. As clients professionalize their structures to manage large-scale wealth transfers, the bank continues to invest in digital transformation and advisory talent to deliver a personalised, multi-advisory experience.

Infrastructure Expansion and Future Growth

To support its long-term expansion strategy in the region and globally, Lombard Odier will soon open its new global headquarters at Bellevue. The facility provides a foundation for the bank’s continued operations, reinforcing its commitment to Swiss private banking excellence backed by cutting-edge capabilities.
