LSC Expands Dark Fiber Network to Indianapolis to Support AI and HPC Growth
Light Source Communications (LSC) is expanding its high-capacity dark fiber network infrastructure to the Indianapolis, Indiana, metropolitan area, driven by the increasing demand for low-latency connectivity to support Artificial Intelligence (AI) and High-Performance Computing (HPC) applications. The fresh network, announced on February 18, 2026, is designed to serve hyperscalers, neoclouds, and enterprises.
New Indianapolis Network Details
The Indianapolis network will consist of 240 miles of fiber, arranged in five high-capacity rings, covering approximately 20 municipalities. It will provide direct access to multiple data centers in the region. LSC has already secured commitments from several global hyperscalers as anchor tenants for the network.
Addressing the Growing Demand for Fiber Infrastructure
According to Debra Freitas, CEO of LSC, the expansion is a direct response to the escalating needs of the tech industry. “As hyperscalers expand, neocloud platforms scale high-performance environments, and AI applications generate unprecedented data demand, the need for low-latency, high-capacity, and diverse fiber infrastructure continues to accelerate,” Freitas stated.
Strategic Expansion Across the Midwest and Beyond
Indianapolis has emerged as a significant data center hub in the Midwest, attracting substantial investment from major technology players. LSC’s network aims to enhance regional connectivity, improve network resilience, and provide a scalable foundation for AI and cloud deployments.
The Indianapolis project is part of a broader expansion strategy for LSC, which is currently constructing dark fiber networks in several other key U.S. Markets, including Las Vegas, Phoenix, and Tulsa, Oklahoma. The company recently completed a 35-mile ring in Kansas City, Missouri, in June. In Phoenix, LSC is developing a 335+ mile dark fiber metro ring. In Tulsa, they are adding 80 miles of new fiber to an existing 50-mile network.
