Lviv Terrorist Attack: Woman Detained, Allegedly Linked to FSB
Lviv, Ukraine – A 33-year-old woman from the Rivne region of Ukraine has been detained in Sambir, Lviv Oblast, although attempting to leave the region, following a series of explosions in Lviv city center that authorities are investigating as a terrorist attack. The woman is accused of manufacturing explosives under the direction of online curators associated with Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB).
Details of the Arrest and Investigation
According to journalist Vitaliy Glagola, who reported on Telegram, the woman was apprehended as she tried to exit the Lviv region. The preparation for the attack was reportedly conducted remotely, with the suspect receiving instructions and guidance from FSB operatives online.
“She made the explosives herself according to clear online instructions from the FSB supervisors who recruited her,” Glagola stated. Further investigative actions are underway in a region outside of Lviv.
The Lviv Explosions
Preliminary investigations indicate the explosions were caused by improvised explosive devices (IEDs) planted in garbage cans throughout the city center. A 23-year-old police officer was killed in the blasts, and 25 other individuals sustained injuries.
Large-Scale Investigation
A large-scale special operation was immediately launched by Lviv police, involving operatives, investigators, criminal analysts, forensic experts, explosives specialists, and canine units. Collaboration between the police and border guards of the 7th Carpathian Border Guard Detachment led to the suspect’s location and detention in the controlled border area of Staryi Sambir within hours.
Ongoing Security Concerns
The incident highlights ongoing security concerns in Ukraine, particularly as the country continues to defend against Russian aggression. Authorities are treating the case as a terrorist attack and are working to determine the full extent of the FSB’s involvement.
