Macron Cautions Against Capitulation as US Proposes Ukraine-Russia Peace Plan

Paris – French President Emmanuel Macron stated the proposed peace plan from the united States to end the war between Ukraine and Russia contains several elements worth discussing. Macron warned against any “capitulation” or surrender by Ukraine.

“We want peace. Though, not a peace that is essentially a capitulation, wich puts Ukraine in an impossible situation, which gives Russia complete freedom to move further, including into other European (countries) and endangers everyone’s security,” Macron said in a statement to radio RTL, as reported by AFP on Tuesday, November 25, 2025.

He described the US’s proposed plan to end the conflict sparked by the Russian invasion of Ukraine in 2022 as a step “in the right direction” with elements that must be “discussed, negotiated and improved.”
