Venezuelan President Nicolás maduro and his wife Cilia Flores were arrested by US forces in thier own home in Venezuela on the night of 3 January.
Maduro was then taken on to a warship, which headed for the US military base at Guantánamo.
Just after 22:30 Norwegian time, the plane with the president landed outside New york.

At 11:23 p.m., a Maduro was taken out of the plane by a number of people, TV images that filmed the arrival show.
In the United States, Maduro is charged with “narco-terrorism”, cocaine importation, possession of machine guns and several other offences.
Trump Claims US Will Govern Venezuela
US President Donald trump declared on Saturday afternoon that the US will govern Venezuela for some time. This follows accusations that Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro has used the drug trade to enrich his own family, including his wife and son, who is a member of Venezuela’s National Assembly.

“We will govern the country until we can make a safe, orderly and legal transition,” saeid Trump.
Venezuelan Vice-President Delcy Rodríguez countered, stating, “Venezuela will not become a colony.”
When asked by journalists how the united States will take over the governance of the South American country, Trump replied that they are going to establish a group to govern Venezuela.
Trump also stated that the US should not spend any money on governing the country,justifying this by Venezuela’s oil wealth.
“We are going to sell large quantities of oil to other countries,” the president said.

Earlier on Saturday, Trump published a photo that he claimed showed Maduro on his way to the United States aboard the warship USS Iwo Jima.
