Maha Tennis Foundation Lands in Mumbai’s Mouje Kole Kalyan

The Maharashtra cabinet, led by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, has approved the allocation of approximately 2 acres of land owned by the Mumbai Housing and Area Progress Authority (MHADA) in Mauje Kole Kalyan, Andheri, Mumbai, to the Maha Tennis Foundation.

Joint Development Project for Tennis Advancement

The Maha Tennis Foundation requested the land, previously designated as a recreational ground, to develop complete tennis infrastructure within Mumbai city and its suburbs. The project will proceed as a joint development initiative between the foundation and MHADA, fostering a collaborative approach to enhance tennis facilities.

₹10 Crore Share Capital Approved

Recognizing the non-profit nature of the Foundation, the cabinet also sanctioned a ₹10 crore share capital contribution from MHADA. This financial support will be instrumental in implementing the development project and promoting the growth of tennis throughout Mumbai and the surrounding areas. the investment underscores the government’s commitment to bolstering sporting infrastructure and encouraging participation in tennis.

This initiative builds upon recent developments in Mumbai’s sporting landscape, including the establishment of India’s largest rooftop racket destination, further solidifying the city’s position as a hub for racquet sports.
