Major League Rugby announces Leadership Transition

DALLAS, TX – Major League Rugby (MLR) today announced a transition in it’s executive leadership, as Nic Benson steps down from his role as Chief executive Officer.
Benson’s departure and Contributions
Nic Benson, a key figure in the league’s progress since its founding and CEO since early 2023, is stepping down. During his tenure, Benson oversaw critically important milestones, including the creation of Anthem Rugby Carolina, a historic joint venture with World Rugby and USA Rugby . He also led strategic media developments, such as the growth of The Rugby Network, the partnership with ESPN, and preparations for hosting the Rugby World Cup in 2031.
Benson will remain involved with MLR as a senior advisor, assisting with the leadership transition and specific strategic projects.
new Dual-Leadership Structure
The MLR Board of Directors has implemented a new leadership model, appointing two Co-Presidents to guide the league forward. The new Co-Presidents are Harrison Slade and Charlotte Farmer.
Harrison slade
Harrison Slade brings extensive experience in sports and entertainment, having previously served as Executive vice President at Harris Blitzer Sports & entertainment, overseeing the Philadelphia 76ers and New jersey Devils. His expertise lies in revenue generation, partnership development, and operational efficiency.
Charlotte Farmer
Charlotte farmer joins MLR from the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL), where she served as Chief Commercial Officer. She is recognized for her success in building brand awareness, driving fan engagement, and fostering commercial growth within the sports industry.
