Stray Animal Issue in Makhachkala Addressed by City Authorities
Residents of Makhachkala, the capital of Dagestan, have raised concerns about the growing problem of stray dogs in the city. According to reports from the Center for City Management, complaints were identified through social media monitoring, highlighting the disturbances caused by stray animals in the area of the 30th Lyceum on Abdulkhakim Street.
Residents’ Complaints and Impact
Locals reported that groups of stray dogs create significant discomfort, especially at night. The persistent barking and howling disrupt sleep, while the animals exhibit aggressive behavior, attacking passersby and night workers such as janitors. These issues have prompted calls for action from the community.
City Response and Resolution
The Center for City Management took immediate steps to address the issue. A complaint was swiftly forwarded to the Mуниципальное бюджетное учреждение (Municipal Budgetary Institution) “Service for Working with Stray Animals.” Authorities responded by capturing the dogs, who were subsequently sterilized and treated before being released back into their environment in accordance with local regulations.
