Sydney Sweeney on ‘The Housemaid’: “A Dream Project”

Sydney Sweeney is currently starring as Millie Calloway in The Housemaid, a film based on Freida McFadden’s 2022 novel of the same name. The novel has become an international bestseller, gaining a significant following, particularly within the TikTok reading community.

Sweeney herself is “a huge fan of the book” and says she “loved all the characters.” She elaborates, “I love complex, juicy, crazy, twisted stories. This is a dream project.”

The film also features Amanda Seyfried and Brandon Sklenar as Nina and Andrew Winchester, the couple who employ Sweeney’s character. Seyfried and Sweeney were cast in their roles, in part, due to their physical similarities, but Seyfried notes the connection goes deeper.

“There’s a similarity between us that is uncanny, and it’s really fun to work with people [who] are doing life in a similar way, have similar ideals about the job and life,” Seyfried told the BBC.

sweeney echoes this sentiment, describing a “dynamic” between the pair where they “can enjoy being around” each other, allowing them to “go to these crazy places and discover so much more within your character.”

Brandon sklenar: From ‘Next Level Chef’ to Rising Film Star

Brandon Sklenar is quickly becoming a name to watch. You might recognize him from Gordon Ramsay’s culinary competition, Next Level chef, where he showcased notable cooking skills. But Sklenar’s talents extend far beyond the kitchen; he’s now making waves in the film industry.

The actor is currently starring in the psychological thriller The Housemaid, which has garnered significant attention on streaming platforms. It seems his role as the enigmatic David is resonating with audiences. The film, which premiered on January 12th,has quickly climbed the streaming charts, and Sklenar’s performance is a key reason why.

Before The Housemaid, Sklenar had roles in projects like 1883 and Palm Royale. However, The Housemaid feels like a turning point. One might suggest this role is offering him a platform to demonstrate a different side of his acting abilities.

Sklenar’s background is quite diverse. He was a collegiate baseball player at the University of Texas at austin before pursuing a career in professional baseball. After a shoulder injury sidelined his athletic ambitions,he transitioned to cooking, eventually landing on Next Level Chef. It’s a testament to his adaptability and willingness to embrace new challenges.

He’s also active on social media, where he shares glimpses into his life and work. Don’t expect a constant stream of self-promotion, though. Sklenar seems to prefer a more authentic approach, connecting with fans on a personal level.

What’s next for Brandon Sklenar? It’s hard to say for sure, but with the success of The Housemaid, it’s likely we’ll be seeing a lot more of him on screen. He’s proving that it’s possible to successfully pivot between different creative fields, and his journey is definitely one to follow. It appears he’s just getting started.
