Adif, the Spanish railway infrastructure administrator, confirmed the disruption occurred between 3:20 PM and 3:35 PM.The stoppage was implemented to ensure the safety of both the individual and the responding police officers. The affected tunnel is considered a “critical zone” due to it’s single-track configuration, which handles trains traveling in both directions.

Authorities have stated that the individual was experiencing homelessness. The reasons for entering the railway tunnel are currently unknown and under investigation. Both the National Police and Adif have reported no further incidents related to this event.

This incident highlights the ongoing challenges related to vulnerable populations and the importance of railway safety protocols. Adif continues to work with local authorities to address these concerns and prevent future disruptions to train service.
