A 32-year-old man has been charged with murder following the death of a man in belfast earlier this week. Isaac Koko, of Cromwell Road in south Belfast, appeared before Belfast Magistrates Court on Wednesday, charged with the murder of Ahmed Abdi.
Police responded to a “concern for safety” report at Mr. Koko’s flat. Upon arrival, officers discovered Mr. Abdi injured. He was later transported to the hospital, where he later died.
During five interviews conducted over two days, Mr. Koko denied the murder charge, asserting he acted in self-defense.He also stated that both he adn Mr. Abdi had consumed a significant amount of alcohol prior to the incident, according to a PSNI detective inspector’s testimony in court.
Mr.Koko, originally from Sudan, only confirmed his name and understanding of the charge during the court appearance. No bail application was made, and he was remanded in custody. He is scheduled to reappear in court next month.
