Portuguese midfielder Bruno Fernandes opened the scoring from the penalty spot, and also scored to put United ahead again, but Evanilson’s penalty secured a point for Bournemouth.
First-Half Stalemate
A goalless first half saw Bruno Fernandes arrive close to opening the scoring in the 35th minute, but his effort was denied by a save from Bournemouth’s goalkeeper, Petrovic.
Fernandes Breaks the Deadlock
Bruno Fernandes gave Manchester United the lead in the 61st minute, converting a penalty to score his eighth goal in 30 official games for the club this season.
Bournemouth Responds
Bournemouth quickly equalized in the 67th minute through Ryan Christie, whose well-placed shot beat United goalkeeper Lammens. The goal came after Manchester United had appealed for a penalty at the other end of the pitch.
Maguire’s Goal and Subsequent Red Card
Four minutes later, Manchester United regained the lead when Harry Maguire headed in a corner from Bruno Fernandes. However, the advantage was short-lived. In the 78th minute, Maguire fouled former FC Porto player Evanilson, resulting in a straight red card and a penalty for Bournemouth. Kroupi converted the penalty to level the score at 2-2.
League Standings
Manchester United remain in third place with 55 points, but their position is threatened by Aston Villa (51 points), Liverpool (49 points), and Chelsea (48 points). Bournemouth are 10th with 42 points, ahead of Fulham (41 points), Brighton (40 points), and Sunderland (40 points), and level with Crystal Palace (39 points).
