Manga Planet to Sunset Digital Platform, Transferring Purchases to Renta!
After announcing its plans in October 2025, Manga Planet will officially close its digital service on March 31, 2026. The platform is collaborating with Renta! to allow readers to transfer their purchased manga, ensuring continued access to their digital libraries.
The Transition to Renta!
Manga Planet understands the concerns of its users regarding the platform’s closure and has been working to find a solution to mitigate disruption. Readers who have purchased titles on Manga Planet will have the option to transfer them to Renta! for continued reading on the Renta! platform (ebookrenta.com).
Key Details of the Transfer Process
- Opt-In Basis: The transfer of purchased manga is not automatic; readers must actively opt-in to participate.
- Eligible Content: Only chapters and volumes that have been purchased are eligible for transfer. Content accessed through a Manga Planet Pass will not be transferred. Due to publisher agreements, not all titles will be available for transfer.
- Email Verification: Before March 31, 2026, Manga Planet users must ensure their registered email address is current. This is crucial as the transfer process will be initiated via a unique link sent to that email address. Access to accounts and the ability to modify details will be lost after March 31, 2026.
- Transfer Notification: On April 13, 2026, readers with eligible purchases will receive an email from Manga Planet containing specific details and the transfer link. This email will also outline which titles are eligible for transfer.
- Transfer Deadline: The transfer process must be completed by July 31, 2026.
Manga Planet’s Future Focus
With the closure of its digital platform, Manga Planet will shift its focus towards print releases under its Manga Planet and futekiya imprints. ScreenRant notes that Manga Planet distinguished itself by offering translated titles that were difficult to find elsewhere.
Recent Changes and Refunds
As part of the phased shutdown, Manga Planet stopped selling point bundles and longer subscription passes on October 31, 2025. Short-term passes were discontinued on February 28, 2026. Refunds will be issued only for Manga Planet Passes that extend beyond the closure date, and eligible holders will be contacted directly. Manga Planet’s blog confirmed the closure and transfer details on March 10, 2026.
The Manga Planet Team expresses gratitude to its readers for their support and to Renta! for their cooperation in facilitating this transition.
