The proposal occurred in the early hours of Saturday morning as the event’s green-haired professor figure removed her sensory restrictions to reveal the kneeling clown holding a ring.
The couple first met approximately two years ago while working at the same annual Halloween attraction. Both now manage the operations of five distinct spook houses and direct a cast of 175 actors.

De Braber initially joined the production as a performer to frighten visitors before advancing to a leadership role alongside van Zonneveld. “I thought, well, nice, I’ll sign up to be an actor,” de Braber told Omroep Brabant regarding her initial involvement with the production two years ago. The pair now oversee the daily functioning of the five haunted attractions at the Standdaarbuiten venue.
Van Zonneveld acknowledged the high-stakes nature of organizing the growing seasonal event while planning the onstage surprise. “I was really full of tension, everything goes with it,” van Zonneveld said of the stunt, which concluded with Bruno Mars playing over the sound system as other costumed performers cheered around them.
