A woman, identified as R.B., has filed a civil lawsuit in Massachusetts federal court against Choice Hotels International, alleging she was a victim of sex trafficking at the Quality Inn and Suites in Worcester, Massachusetts. The suit claims the hotel chain knowingly benefited from the trafficking operation and failed to take adequate steps to prevent it.

Details of the Allegations

According to the lawsuit,R.B.was subjected to sex trafficking for approximately one to two years, between January 2016 and December 2017, at the Quality Inn. She alleges she was coerced, threatened, and physically forced into sexual acts wiht multiple individuals, referred to as “Johns,” on a daily basis. The suit states that at least five “Johns” visited the hotel each time R.B. was trafficked there.

R.B.claims she was sexually assaulted hundreds of times during her captivity. The lawsuit further alleges that members of the Kilby Street Gang were involved in her trafficking, operating for up to 20 days at a time at the Quality Inn.

Hotel’s Alleged Knowledge and Complicity

The lawsuit asserts that Choice Hotels and the Quality Inn were aware of the sex trafficking occurring on their property, or should have been aware, and financially profited from it. R.B.’s attorney argues that the hotel provided a convenient and anonymous location for traffickers, minimizing the risk of detection.

The suit details several instances suggesting the hotel staff were aware of suspicious activity. R.B. claims hotel staff repeatedly encountered her and her traffickers, noting their extended stays, frequent room changes, and a constant flow of male visitors. The lawsuit also alleges that staff witnessed signs of abuse, including bruising and verbal and physical altercations, in public areas of the hotel.

Continued Trafficking After Arrests

Even after arrests were made of Kilby Street Gang members in late 2016, the suit claims that other perpetrators continued to traffic R.B. and other women at the Quality Inn. Traffickers allegedly used online platforms like craigslist and Backpage to advertise and connect with clients, utilizing the hotel’s Wi-Fi network for interaction.

Evidence of Negligence

The lawsuit alleges that Choice hotels had access to data indicating the trafficking operation, including security camera footage, reservation records, guest complaint databases, and Wi-Fi logs showing unusual activity. Despite this, the hotel allegedly took no action to stop the trafficking and continued to profit from it.The suit specifically mentions that loud disturbances and signs of abuse were never investigated, and law enforcement was not notified.

as of January 7, 2026, Choice Hotels has not issued a public comment regarding the lawsuit.
