McLaren Expands into Golf with New McLaren Golf Division
McLaren Racing, renowned for its success in Formula 1 and other motorsport series, is extending its reach into the world of golf with the launch of McLaren Golf. The new division, announced this week by McLaren Racing CEO Zak Brown, aims to bring the company’s engineering expertise and performance-driven ethos to golf equipment.
A Natural Progression for McLaren
Zak Brown, an avid golfer himself, explained that transferring McLaren’s engineering standards to the golf course felt like a “natural step.” He emphasized the opportunity to introduce the McLaren brand to a new audience whereas maintaining its commitment to excellence. “At McLaren Racing, we are driven by performance and the pursuit of excellence in every area of activity,” Brown stated. “Transferring our engineering standards, which set the bar on the grid, from the circuit to the golf course seems like a natural step. This decision likewise opens the McLaren brand to a new audience.”
Leadership and Focus of McLaren Golf
Neil Howie will serve as the CEO of McLaren Golf, leading a team of golf experts and engineers. The company plans to focus on creating premium, engineering-led golf equipment. Howie stated, “McLaren Golf is a premium, engineering project that is not just about equipment. We’re building a brand rooted in McLaren’s high-performance DNA and taking it into a new sporting realm. We’ve hired some of the best engineering minds and paired them with the world’s leading figures in golf to create a company built on innovation that pushes the boundaries of what golfers can expect from their equipment.”
McLaren’s Expanding Portfolio
This move follows McLaren’s recent expansion into various racing series, including IndyCar , the electric Extreme E championship, and endurance racing. While the company previously participated in Formula E, it has since withdrawn.
Launch Date
