Medvedev Upsets Alcaraz, Reaches Indian Wells Final

Indian Wells, CA (AFP) – Russia’s Daniil Medvedev ended Carlos Alcaraz’s 16-match winning streak this season, securing a spot in the men’s singles final of the Indian Wells Tennis Tournament on Saturday. He will face Jannik Sinner for the championship.

Alcaraz’s Streak Ends

The 22-year-ancient Alcaraz, who became the youngest male player to complete a career Grand Slam by winning the Australian Open earlier this year Wikipedia, entered the semi-final with a record of 16 consecutive wins after likewise claiming the championship in Qatar. However, Medvedev proved too strong, defeating the top seed 6-3, 7-6 (3).

Medvedev’s Dominant Performance

Medvedev, the winner of last month’s Dubai tournament, consistently pushed Alcaraz to run throughout the match. This victory ended Alcaraz’s 16-game winning streak this season and a 34-game winning streak on outdoor hard courts. It also broke Medvedev’s 4-game losing streak against Alcaraz, improving his overall record to 3-6 and marked his 9th consecutive win. This is Medvedev’s third time reaching the final at Indian Wells and his 11th Masters final appearance.

Medvedev on Beating Alcaraz
