Thomas Markle Arrested in Florida
Thomas Markle, the 82-year-old estranged father of Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, was arrested in a Florida nursing home by federal agents on charges related to the possession of child sexual abuse material, CBS News reported. Federal authorities stated that the arrest followed an investigation involving two storage units in the Los Angeles area that Markle had rented for nearly two decades.
Investigators Identified Images Showing Thomas Markle with Girls
According to federal court documents cited by DIR, investigators identified images showing a man resembling Thomas Markle with prepubescent and minor girls, including photographs allegedly taken in a motel room in the Philippines. Federal investigators reported that another image depicted a naked girl in a room appearing to be part of a motel chain in the Philippines, and noted that Markle was previously investigated over similar allegations while living in the Philippines years ago.
First Assistant U.S. Attorney Bill Esayeli, who leads the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Los Angeles, outlined that the suspect stored sexually explicit photographs of himself with young girls across the two properties over a period spanning close to twenty years, DIR reported. The Justice Department stated that agents confiscated 78 items of evidence, including slides, film negatives, and books containing suspected child sexual abuse material. FBI Director Kash Patel stated that authorities moved quickly to execute the arrest, adding that the bureau utilized its full resources to target individuals who allegedly seek to harm children, FOCUS reported. Patel added that the suspect targeted innocent children and sought to strip away their innocence through criminal actions, emphasizing that no sexual predator targeting children will find a safe haven in the country or anywhere else they attempt to hide.
