Cougars Dominate Jackson State 80-38

HOUSTON (AP) – Senior guard emanuel Sharp scored 23 points, and freshman guard Isiah Harwell added a career-high 20 points as the #7/8 University of Houston Men’s Basketball team routed Jackson State 80-38 inside Fertitta Centre on Wednesday night. It’s their third straight win.

Sharp was on fire in the first half,scoring 19 points on 6-of-7 shooting,including 5-of-6 from beyond the arc.This helped the Cougars (9-1) build a commanding 40-16 lead at halftime.

Sharp and Harwell proved to be a dynamic duo, combining for 16-of-25 shooting from the field and 9-of-17 on three-pointers. Sharp has now scored at least 20 points in back-to-back games, following his 27-point performance against Florida State on Saturday night.

Harwell also had a breakout game, setting career highs in minutes played (24:00), field goals (8), field goal attempts (14), 3-point field goals (4), 3-point field goal attempts (9), and tying his career high in rebounds (4).

Houston shot 48% overall and 11-of-33 from three-point range. Thay capitalized on Jackson State’s turnovers, forcing 25 and converting them into 30 points. The Cougars also dominated in several key statistical categories, including bench points (40-11), points in the paint (24-4), and second-chance points (25-3).

Jayme Mitchell Jr. led Jackson State (1-8) with 12 points. However, the Tigers struggled from the field, shooting just 29.5% and 9-of-28 on three-pointers.

Jackson State started hot, making five of their first six three-point attempts. A three-pointer by Mike Williams brought them within 21-16 with 10:30 remaining in the first half, but Houston quickly regained control.
