Houston Christian University Men’s Golf Finishes 10th at Border Olympics

LAREDO, Texas – The Houston Christian University (HCU) men’s golf team concluded competition at the Border Olympics on Tuesday, finishing 10th in a field of 13 teams at Laredo Country Club. The Huskies posted a three-round total of 876 (+24), with scores of 292, 284, and 300.

Individual Performances

Brendon Willey led HCU, finishing inside the top five individually at three-under par (210) after rounds of 71, 68, and 71. Willey recorded four birdies in the final round, including consecutive birdies on holes 1 and 2, and also birdied holes 11 and 17. He totaled 11 birdies over the 54 holes.

Carter Patterson had his best round of the tournament on Tuesday, carding a one-over 72 (78-78-72—228). He recorded birdies on holes 1 and 6 on the front nine, and on holes 13 and 17 on the back nine.

Roy Barrera IV finished at +12 (225) with a final round of 74 (73-78-74). He had birdies on holes 4, 7, and 10, and a 35 on the front nine.

Brooks Pawlak concluded play at +7 (220) after a final round of 75 (77-68-75), posting birdies on holes 4 and 18. He finished the tournament with eight birdies overall.

Mason Napier rounded out the HCU lineup at +14 (227) with a final round of 76 (71-80-76), recording birdies on holes 6 and 10.

Tournament Results

Host Houston captured the team title at two-under par, while Tarleton State and North Texas tied for second at even par.

Houston Christian will return to action March 2-3 at the Colin Montgomerie Invitational at Sweetwater Country Club in Sugar Land, Texas.
