Drake Men’s Tennis to Host Northwest Missouri State

The Drake University men’s tennis team will face off against the Northwest Missouri State Bearcats on Tuesday, March 24, at the Roger Knapp Tennis Center in Des Moines, Iowa. Bulldog Breakdown

Drake enters the contest with a 13-2 overall record, currently riding a 13-match winning streak. The Bulldogs recently secured a 4-3 road victory against Northern Illinois on March 16.

Several Bulldogs have been key contributors to the team’s success. Samuel Melaga boasts a perfect 10-0 singles record in completed dual matches, while Arin Menon holds a 10-1 singles mark. Jose Alessandro Hernandez has a 7-2 singles record, and Alan Gonzalez leads regular starters with an 8-2 singles record. Ben Johnson has contributed with a 6-3 dual singles record.

In doubles play, the pairing of Ulysse Verrando and Adan Tarquino has a 5-2 record, and Alex Yeager and Menon have a 4-3 doubles mark.

Scouting the Northwest Missouri State Bearcats

Northwest Missouri State enters the matchup with a 4-4 overall record, having recently defeated Southwest Baptist 5-2 on March 13. The Bearcats are coached by Mark Rosewell, who has over 1,200 career victories and has led Northwest programs to 30 MIAA regular-season championships and 45 NCAA Tournament appearances. The Roger Knapp Tennis Center, completed in October 1992, features six indoor and six outdoor hard courts. The facility is home to the Drake men’s and women’s tennis teams.
