Immersive Experience at the Sphere

Performances will incorporate “multi-sensory 4D technology” to create a unique and experiential concert, according to KSNV. The band aims to “reinvent how we interact with our fans in a live setting,” as stated by drummer Lars Ulrich.

Ulrich on Performing at the Sphere

Lars Ulrich shared his excitement about the residency, recalling his experience at a U2 concert at the Sphere in 2023. “About 12 seconds into opening night of Sphere with U2 back in ‘23, I thought ‘We have to do this, it’s completely uncharted territory!’” he said in a news release. Louder Sound reports Ulrich also expressed being “way [expletive] psyched to go next level!”

Following in the Footsteps of Other Artists

Metallica joins a growing list of artists who have taken advantage of the Sphere’s unique capabilities, including U2, Dead & Company, No Doubt, Eagles, and Phish. Forbes notes that the band’s decision follows months of speculation about a potential Las Vegas residency.

Metallica’s Legacy

Comprised of James Hetfield, Lars Ulrich, Kirk Hammett, and Robert Trujillo, Metallica has sold more than 163 million albums worldwide and is known for hits such as “Enter Sandman,” “Master of Puppets,” “Nothing Else Matters,” and “Fade to Black.” 8 News Now reports the band’s catalog will be featured during the residency.
