Carrick’s Response

Facing the media on Friday, February 20, 2026, Carrick addressed the situation for the first time since Ratcliffe’s statement. It’s not my place to add to that,” Carrick said.

But, Carrick was clear in his support for the club’s values. He highlighted Manchester United’s global impact and expressed pride in the club’s environment and culture. “What I can say is, as I’ve been around this club many, many years, we always develop a huge impact globally,” Carrick explained. “We’re really proud of the environment and the culture that we’ve got at the club, and equality and diversity and respect for each other is something that we glance to carry through every day.”

Focus Remains on Football

Carrick likewise emphasized the team’s positive spirits and focus on upcoming matches. “The boys have been in really good spirits this week. We had some time away for a refresh and then we’ve come back in to focus on what’s next. We’re looking forward to the next game,” he stated. He affirmed the strong communication and support within the team and acknowledged the club’s global responsibilities and diverse fanbase.

“We understand what it’s like globally and the responsibilities that we have. I can only speak of my personal experiences of being here for a long time, we have supporters from all different backgrounds. I’m proud of what the club stands for and has done for so long.”
