Michael English Opens Up About Shock Heart Attack at 46

Country music star Michael English has revealed he suffered a heart attack last week at the age of 46 whereas traveling to a gig in Waterford, Ireland. The singer described the event as a shock, particularly given his good physical condition.

Health Scare on the Road

The health scare occurred as English was en route to a performance in Waterford. He began to feel unwell, describing a feeling of weakness and tiredness, which was unusual for him as he had already been taking three days off. While stopping for diesel, he asked his manager, Bryan, to take over driving. Shortly after resuming the journey, English lost consciousness in the passenger seat.

“It was a shock – at 46, I didn’t think it would happen to me,” English stated, according to reports from the Irish Mirror and Mirror UK.

Hospitalization and Recovery

English received medical attention at both University Hospital Waterford and the Hermitage Clinic in Dublin. Fortunately, he did not require surgery. He is currently on medication and will undergo further cardiac tests as his heart recovers, but reports feeling well.

“Thankfully I didn’t necessitate surgery,” he told The Sunday World. “I’m on some medication and will be having more cardiac tests when my heart gets a chance to recover, but I feel great now, it’s as if nothing had happened.”

Lifestyle and Future Plans

The singer, known for his busy work schedule, acknowledged the need to prioritize his health and wellbeing. He noted that he doesn’t smoke and is a moderate drinker, and doesn’t consider himself to be overweight.

“I’m known in the business for working a lot. I’m often described as ‘the busiest act in country’ so I probably need to address that,” English said.

He emphasized the importance of regular health check-ups, particularly for men, stating that such preventative measures could be life-saving.

Return to Work

Michael English has been cleared to return to work, though he intends to incorporate more time for rest and self-care into his routine.
