Latvia Unveils 2026 Michelin Guide Restaurant Selections at Palladium Concert Hall

The Investment and Development Agency of Latvia (LIAA) will host a restaurant awards ceremony on November 5, 2026, at the Palladium concert hall in Riga to announce the latest Michelin Guide selection for Latvia and honor the featured culinary teams, Travelnews.lv reported. The event highlights domestic culinary achievements and their role in attracting foreign visitors.

LIAA serves as the partner for the Michelin Guide in Latvia. The ongoing partnership extends through 2028 and secures Latvia’s inclusion in the guide alongside promotional campaigns across international communication channels. This visibility connects local dining establishments with international travelers who choose their destinations based on gastronomy.

“Latvia can also be experienced through taste,” said LIAA Director Ieva Jāgere. “Our chefs are ambassadors of Latvia — in the meals they create, local products and traditions reveal our culture and each chef’s signature. Michelin recognition draws the attention of travelers who are willing to travel to another country for a special meal.”

Restaurant Selections and Notable Recognitions

Latvia’s first Michelin restaurant selection debuted in November 2023 with 26 featured establishments. The 2026 guide included 34 recommended restaurants, encompassing 27 venues in Riga and seven across other regions of Latvia.

The current selection awards one Michelin star to two dining spots: “JOHN Chef’s Hall” and “Max Cekot Kitchen”. Five establishments earned the Bib Gourmand distinction for offering high-quality food at moderate prices: “Milda”, “Shōyu”, “Snatch”, “SMØR Bistro”, and “H.E. Vanadziņš”. “Pavāru māja” in Līgatne also received the Michelin Green Star for sustainable operational practices.

Independent Michelin inspectors evaluate restaurants through anonymous visits based on five core criteria: product quality, harmony of flavors, mastery of cooking techniques, the chef’s personality expressed in the dishes, and consistency across the menu over time. The guide reviews and updates its restaurant selection annually.

Dining Reservations Drive Regional Tourism and Local Sales

Jāgere noted that booking a restaurant table often serves as the starting point for a broader journey through Latvia. Visitors frequently combine dining reservations with overnight stays, trips to local producers, and cultural explorations in regional areas.

The partnership between kitchens and Latvian agricultural producers also expands sales opportunities for local growers and food suppliers. The upcoming ceremony at the Palladium concert hall will gather chefs, restaurant teams, tourism and hospitality professionals, media representatives, and industry partners to celebrate these economic and cultural ties.
