Michelle Obama recently debuted a sparkling new look, revealing she received 10 new ear piercings in a single sitting. The former First Lady shared the story on the latest episode of her podcast, “IMO,” co-hosted with her brother, Craig Robinson.

Inspired by a New Generation

Obama explained that she had always considered adding more piercings but never prioritized it. “I have always thought about getting some extra piercings in my ear and just never got around to it,” she said, according to Page Six. She noted that the current trend of “ear stacks” and “constellations” of earrings, popular among younger generations, inspired her to finally capture the plunge.

She recalled having a second piercing before having her daughters, Malia and Sasha, but “then [she] just got lazy and stopped putting an earring in it.”

A Spontaneous Decision

The piercing session was more extensive than initially planned. “I was only planning on a few at first,” Obama admitted. She found herself enthusiastically requesting more as the process continued, telling the piercer to “Oh, put one there and put one [there]. Oh yeah, let’s try one there.” she ended up with 10 new piercings in one appointment, as reported by The Daily Mail.

Barack’s Reaction

While her brother, Craig Robinson, immediately noticed the new additions, it took former President Barack Obama a few days to realize his wife had undergone a transformation. “Barack, [it] took him a couple of days,” Obama laughed, adding that he initially attributed the lack of visibility to her wearing her hair down, as detailed in Hello!
