F5 Access for iOS Updates and Known Issues

F5 continues to release updates for its Access for iOS application, addressing compatibility issues and improving performance for users connecting to BIG-IP APM systems. As of November 4, 2025, the latest version is 3.1.1, available through the app store. This article details recent releases, fixes and known issues affecting F5 Access for iOS.

Recent Releases

F5 Access for iOS 3.1.1 (Released October 13, 2025)

The F5 Access version 3.1.1 for iOS devices is now available. This release focuses on certificate rotation and does not introduce any new features. The build number for this version is 7060.2025.1010.538. It is compatible with a wide range of BIG-IP APM versions, including 21.0.0, 17.5.1, 17.5.0, 17.1.3, 17.1.2, 17.1.1, 17.1.0, 17.0.0, 16.1.6, 16.1.5, 16.1.4, 16.1.3, 16.1.2, 16.1.1, 16.1.0, 16.0.1, 16.0.0, 15.1.10, 15.1.9, 15.1.8, 15.1.7, 15.1.6, 15.1.4, 15.1.3, 15.1.2, 15.1.1, 15.1.0, 15.0.1, 15.0.0, 14.1.5, 14.1.4, 14.1.3, 14.1.2, 14.1.0, 14.0.1, 14.0.0, 13.1.5, 13.1.4, 13.1.3, 13.1.1, 13.1.0, 12.1.4, 12.1.3, 11.6.4.

F5 Access for iOS 3.0.7 (Released September 2019)

Apple released F5 Access for iOS 3.0.7 in September 2019. This version addressed an issue where users upgrading to iOS 12.0 or higher were unable to connect to the VPN if Wifi HTTP Proxy was set to Automatic. Apple resolved this issue in iOS 13, allowing VPN connections with Automatic proxy enabled. It similarly fixed a problem where the F5 Access app could enter a reasserting state when connected to LTE, causing connection failures.

Known Issues

As of November 4, 2025, the following known issues exist:

  • ID 504919: F5 Access does not consistently resolve the BIG-IP APM hostname upon reconnection after a connection break. This can limit the effectiveness of load balancing with BIG-IP DNS, as the same IP address may be used repeatedly.
  • ID 557905: On iOS 9, updating a managed app whereas a per-app VPN is active may prevent the updated app from utilizing the active session until the session expires and a new one is created. A workaround is to wait for the current session to expire and restart the updated app.
  • ID 747798: Previously, when using F5 Access 3.0.2 and upgrading to iOS 12.0 or higher, users were not able to connect to the VPN if Wifi HTTP Proxy was set to Automatic. This issue has been fixed by Apple (Apple Radar 45527586) in iOS 13.
  • ID 797917: Previously, F5 Access for iOS could go to a reasserting state when connected to LTE, after the VPN is established, causing the connection to fail. This issue has been fixed.
