Milan Police Shooting: Investigation Reveals Prior Conduct Concerns
Milan, Italy – An investigation into the fatal shooting of 28-year-old Abderrahim Mansouri in Rogoredo, Milan, has revealed prior concerns regarding the police officer involved, Carmelo Cinturrino. The officer, an assistant head of the investigative team at the Mecenate police station, is currently under investigation for voluntary manslaughter. Recent developments suggest a potential cover-up attempt by fellow officers and raise questions about Cinturrino’s past conduct.
Mansouri Shooting and Initial Investigation
Abderrahim Mansouri was shot and killed during a drug control operation on January 26th. Cinturrino initially claimed self-defense, alleging Mansouri had brandished a weapon. But, the weapon was later identified as a replica blank pistol. The Milan prosecutor’s office is working to determine the exact circumstances of the shooting, with investigations focusing on the timeline of events and the actions of all officers present.
Allegations of a Cover-Up
Four officers are being investigated for allegedly aiding Cinturrino in an attempt to evade scrutiny. Prosecutors allege these officers initially provided false statements regarding their presence at the scene, their movements, and the actions of others involved. Some of these officers have since revised their statements, offering information that supports the hypothesis of voluntary homicide and casts doubt on Cinturrino’s account.
Prior Concerns: A 2024 Case of Evidence Fabrication
The investigation has uncovered a previous incident involving Cinturrino dating back to May 7, 2024, in the Corvetto neighborhood of Milan. The Milan Tribunal, in the reasoning behind a sentence deposited a year ago, noted “numerous affirmations that do not coincide with what can instead be seen from the images of the surveillance cameras” in the arrest report of a 21-year-old Tunisian man accused of drug dealing. The court ultimately acquitted the man of the charges. Judge Maria Gaetana Rispoli transmitted the case file to the Milan Prosecutor’s Office on January 27, 2025, to evaluate “penally relevant conduct” by Cinturrino.
Forensic Analysis and Ongoing Investigations
Technical investigations, including forensic analysis of Cinturrino’s and Mansouri’s electronic devices, are underway. Investigators are analyzing DNA traces found on the replica weapon to determine who handled it. As of January 30, 2026, Cinturrino had not been registered as a suspect in any previous investigations related to the 2024 case, according to lawyer Pietro Porciani. The prosecutor, Giovanni Tarzia, is coordinating the investigation with the Milan Flying Squad.
The Victim and the Rogoredo Drug Trade
Abderrahim Mansouri was reportedly involved in the drug trade in the Rogoredo area, and was known by the nickname “Zack.” The investigation is also examining potential connections between Mansouri and a family believed to control drug dealing in the area.
