Millsaps College Tennis Teams Dominate Belhaven and MUW

JACKSON, Miss. — The Millsaps College men’s and women’s tennis teams achieved a successful weekend, securing victories against both Belhaven University and Mississippi University for Women (MUW) at the Coach Montgomery Courts.

Women’s Tennis vs. Belhaven

The Millsaps women’s tennis team showcased a dominant performance against Belhaven, winning 7-0. The Majors excelled in doubles play, winning all three matches. Malakie Smith and Skylar Spinks secured a 6-2 victory in their doubles match. The Majors continued their strong performance in singles, winning every match without dropping a set. Riley McClain was particularly impressive, winning her singles game with a score of 6-0, 6-0.

Men’s Tennis vs. Belhaven

The Millsaps men’s tennis team too started their weekend strong with a 5-2 win over Belhaven. In doubles, Sam Tuli and Cooper Payne led the way with a 6-2 victory. The Majors won four out of six singles matches. Jon Nguyen achieved a decisive win with a score of 6-1, 6-0, while Anderson Causey secured a hard-fought victory in three sets.

The Millsaps women’s team continued their winning streak with another 7-0 sweep against MUW. They secured the doubles point with a 3-0 record, highlighted by a 6-2 win from Alexis Oliver and Riley McClain. In singles play, the Majors dominated, winning 72 games compared to MUW’s 11, and winning every singles match. Malakie Smith and Skylar Spinks only dropped one game, and Riley McClain again won her singles match 6-0, 6-0.
