Music Institute Chorale to Host ‘Choir Plus’ Event with Musical Collaborators on March 22

The Music Institute of Chicago (MIC) Chorale will present “Choir Plus” on Sunday, March 22, at 3 p.m. In Nichols Concert Hall, located at 1490 Chicago Avenue, Evanston, IL. The concert will feature a diverse repertoire and collaborations with several musical groups.

Event Details

The program includes works by Monteverdi, Biebl, Schubert, Fauré, Whitacre, Dove, Toch, alongside jazz standards and folk songs originating from Serbia, Colombia, and the United States.

Collaborating Ensembles and Performers

The Evanston Children’s Choir, under the direction of Gary Geiger, and the Music Institute Recorder Ensemble, directed by Patrick O’Malley, will join the Chorale in this performance. Additional faculty and guest musicians will also participate. The Music Institute Chorale will be conducted by Daniel Wallenberg and accompanied by pianist Gregory Schifrin.

About the Evanston Children’s Choir

The Evanston Children’s Choir (ECC) was founded in 2002 as the choir of the Music Offering community music school and incorporated in 2007. Gary Geiger serves as the artistic director of the ECC, which currently enrolls between 90 and 100 students. The ECC is known for its annual winter and spring concerts and its visually striking posters designed by Matt Knannlein, Geiger’s brother.
