Tehran – Reports indicate that Iran’s Supreme Leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, was secretly transported to Russia for medical treatment following injuries sustained during the U.S.-Israeli attack on February 28th. The evacuation aimed to provide Khamenei with life-saving leg surgery, reportedly conducted at a private medical facility linked to one of Russian President Vladimir Putin’s residences.

Amid ongoing speculation regarding his condition, Khamenei recently issued a statement calling for retribution against the United States and Israel.

Details of the Evacuation and Treatment

According to a report by the Kuwaiti newspaper Al-Jarida, Khamenei was evacuated from a bunker struck during the U.S.-Israeli attack, which also resulted in the deaths of his father, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, his mother, his wife, and his son . He was then “smuggled” out of Iran for covert medical operations in Russia.

The Iranian leader was flown to Moscow via a Russian military plane and underwent a “successful” operation at a private medical facility within one of Putin’s residences, Al-Jarida reported, citing a high-ranking source close to the new Iranian Supreme Leader .

Conflicting Reports on Khamenei’s Condition

Reports regarding Khamenei’s condition vary, ranging from a broken leg and facial scratches to the loss of a leg and being in a coma . Al-Jarida attributed the unverified information to “a high-ranking official source close to Iran’s new Supreme Leader.”

Tehran has not directly addressed the media reports. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated that Khamenei is “in good health and is fully monitoring the situation” .

Succession and Initial Statement

Mojtaba Khamenei was appointed Iran’s supreme leader on March 1st, succeeding his father, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who was killed in the initial U.S.-Israel attack on February 28th .
