Moody’s Corporation (NYSE: MCO) has launched its first suite of AI capabilities, offering clients tools designed to integrate with platforms like Microsoft 365 Copilot Cowork. The system allows users to execute complex analytical workflows through natural language requests, leveraging Moody’s proprietary rating data, research, and risk intelligence, according to a company announcement. The tools are available on compatible AI platforms starting with Microsoft 365 Copilot Cowork, as reported by Moody’s.
“Moody’s is among the first financial data providers to offer a comprehensive library of skills on an open standard, and today’s launch is just the beginning,” said Cristina Pieretti, head of digital content and innovation at Moody’s, in a statement.
The release aligns with Moody’s broader strategy to expand its AI-driven offerings, following partnerships with Microsoft and other tech firms. The company emphasized that the tools are platform-agnostic, enabling seamless integration with existing workflows. Clients can now access Moody’s analytical expertise through conversational interfaces, reducing the need for technical expertise to retrieve insights.

Moody’s noted that the AI capabilities are built on its proprietary data models, which include credit ratings, market research, and risk assessments. The tools are designed to streamline decision-making processes for financial professionals, according to the company’s press materials.
The announcement follows a trend of financial institutions adopting AI to enhance data accessibility. For example, S&P Global and Fitch Ratings have also introduced AI-powered analytics tools in recent years. Moody’s move underscores the growing competition in the financial data sector to deliver real-time, actionable insights through emerging technologies.
A spokesperson for Microsoft confirmed the integration with Copilot Cowork, stating the platform is designed to “empower users with intelligent automation and data-driven decision-making.” The partnership highlights the increasing reliance on AI to bridge gaps between raw data and strategic action.
Moody’s AI tools are available for download on Microsoft 365 Copilot Cowork, with plans to expand to other platforms in the future. The company did not specify a timeline for these expansions but noted the open-standard framework allows for broader adoption.
The release comes as regulatory bodies increasingly scrutinize AI applications in finance. The European Union’s AI Act and the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission have both proposed frameworks to ensure transparency and accountability in AI-driven financial tools. Moody’s has not yet commented on how these regulations may impact its AI offerings.
For now, the focus remains on the practical benefits of the tools. “This is a step toward making sophisticated financial analysis more accessible,” said Pieretti. “Our goal is to empower users with insights that are both timely and actionable.”
