The administration of the city of Ramensk said that the power outage was caused by a cable catching fire, however, at the same time, a large-scale Ukrainian drone attack was reported in the Moscow region.

The power outage also affected the residents of the cities of Zhukovska and Litkarina. Authorities said they were working to quickly contain the damage.

The Russian military reported on Tuesday evening that it had shot down more than 100 Ukrainian drones in four hours.

Most of these drones were shot down in the Bryansk region, which borders Ukraine, but eight drones were shot down in the Moscow region, three of which were flying in the direction of Moscow, the Russian military said in a report.

Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin later said other drones had also been intercepted. Due to these attacks, Moscow airports were forced to temporarily suspend operations.

Since Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine began in February 2022, Moscow has regularly attacked Ukraine with drones, missiles, and cruise missiles. Ukraine is responding with increasing strikes deep inside Russian territory, targeting mainly oil and gas infrastructure to disrupt fuel supplies to the Russian military and limit Russian funding for the war.

Analysts, however, note that the damage and civilian casualties caused by the Ukrainian attacks are significantly smaller than those caused by the Russian attacks in Ukraine.
