A woman has said the weight loss drug Mounjaro has left her in chronic pain, suffering depression and with “no quality of life”.
Pauline Miller, from St Keyne, near Liskeard, Cornwall, is one of thousands of people across the country who have been prescribed the jab to help control her diabetes.

A woman in Cornwall, England, is speaking out about debilitating side effects she experienced after being prescribed Mounjaro, a medication used to manage type 2 diabetes, raising concerns as the National Health Service (NHS) prepares to expand its use for obesity treatment.
Pauline Miller, 62, from St Keyne near Liskeard, reports experiencing chronic pain, depression, and a significant decline in her quality of life following the initiation of Mounjaro treatment. Her experience contrasts with reports from other patients who have seen positive health outcomes with the drug.
Ms. Miller, who previously managed health conditions including diabetes and an underactive thyroid with a fulfilling and active lifestyle, began Mounjaro treatment in May 2024. initially, a lower dose had no noticeable effects. However, after increasing the dosage a month later, she began to experience severe and persistent symptoms.

Man Says New Drug Stopped Diabetes From Worsening
A man with diabetes has shared his experience with a new drug that he says has stopped his condition from getting worse, even though it can’t reverse the damage already done. He admits he didn’t fully understand his diagnosis initially and regrets his past ignorance.
“It’s the diabetic side that’s amazed me. If I’m honest, when I was first diagnosed with it [diabetes], I didn’t understand it, I just carried on,” he said.
He described how diabetes impacted his health, leading to serious complications. “My teeth started falling out – snapping.I started to lose my hearing, I couldn’t walk very far due to related problems.”
Despite the irreversible damage, he’s optimistic about the future thanks to the new medication. “I can’t reverse the damage diabetes has done – thru my ignorance – but this [drug] is stopping it from getting worse.”
