Kyiv came under a Russian missile attack on the morning of December 8, 2023, resulting in at least 53 injuries, according to preliminary reports from the Kyiv City Military Administration.

Fragments of downed missiles fell in several districts of the capital, including the Holosiivskyi, Darnytskyi, and Pecherskyi districts.Damage was reported to residential buildings, infrastructure, and vehicles.

“As of 11:30 a.m., 53 people were injured.35 of them received medical assistance on the spot, and 18 were hospitalized,” the Kyiv City Military Administration reported. They added that the data is constantly being updated.

The Air defense Forces destroyed over 20 missiles during the attack. The type of missiles used in the attack has not yet been officially confirmed, but preliminary reports suggest they were ballistic missiles.

Mayor Vitali Klitschko stated that a hospital,a school,and several residential buildings sustained damage. Emergency services are working at the impact sites to clear debris and provide assistance to those affected.

the attack triggered air raid alerts across much of Ukraine, including the capital region. Authorities urged residents to seek shelter instantly.

This attack marks a significant escalation in Russia’s ongoing aggression against Ukraine, and further underscores the continued threat to civilian populations.
