Films Addressing Migration and Racism Screened in Munich
As part of the International Weeks against Racism, the Munich Network for Sea Rescue is hosting screenings of two films at the Werkstattkino, Fraunhoferstraße 9, Munich. The films, Kein Land für Niemand (No Country for Nobody) and Io Capitano, offer distinct perspectives on migration and its challenges.
Film Schedule and Details
Kein Land für Niemand will be shown on March 16th and March 23rd at 5:00 PM. This German documentary, released in 2025 and rated FSK 12, is directed by Max Ahrens and Maik Lüdemann. The 107-minute film accompanies a rescue mission in the Mediterranean Sea, depicts conditions in refugee camps, and gives voice to those who have survived the perilous journey to Europe. It similarly examines the political and societal developments in Germany, focusing on the rise of right-wing populism and the increasing criminalization of flight and migration. Io Capitano, an Italian feature film released in 2025 and also rated FSK 12, will be screened on March 17th at 5:00 PM. Directed by Matteo Garrone, the 121-minute film is distributed by X Verleih and will be shown with original language subtitles (OmU). About the Munich Network for Sea Rescue
The screenings are organized by the Munich Network for Sea Rescue, comprised of various NGOs and civil society groups, including Sea Eye, Seebrücke München, Alarmphone, Mediterranea, and others. Admission is free, though donations to the participating NGOs are greatly appreciated.
