Coachella Valley High School Celebrates Historic Soccer Playoff Run with Community Parade

Thermal, CA – On Saturday, March 21, 2026, the Coachella Valley High School (CVHS) girls’ soccer team was honored with a community parade and ceremony celebrating their historic playoff run. The event, held in Thermal, California, drew large crowds of supporters, including students, families, and local dignitaries.

A Community United in Support

The parade featured performances from various groups connected to the Coachella Valley Unified School District (CVUSD), showcasing the strong community spirit. The Mecca Elementary School mini dance team led the procession, followed by the Westside Elementary School cheer team and the CVHS EXLP dance team. The Coachella Valley High School marching band provided a vibrant soundtrack, and local escaramuza riders added a touch of cultural flair to the celebration.

Recognizing the Team’s Achievements

The parade culminated in a ceremony recognizing the team’s accomplishments. CVUSD Superintendent Frances Esparza addressed the crowd, praising the team’s dedication and hard operate. Fourth District County Supervisor V. Manuel Perez also extended his congratulations, presenting the team with a commemorative proclamation.

Each player received a commemorative scarf, presented by head coach Francisco Morales. Morales and his assistant coaches – Maribel Campos, Damian Bautista, and Jose Gerardo-Martinez – were also recognized for their leadership and guidance. Several players, including Marisa Medrano-Molina, Jaylynn Hernandez, Daniela Pineda, Melody Rodriguez, Makayla Rivera, Nathalie Coronel, and Stephanie Torres, took to the stage to express their gratitude to their teammates, coaches, families, and the community for their unwavering support.

Coachella Valley High School, established in 1910, is the oldest public school in the Coachella Valley and is part of the Coachella Valley Unified School District. The school currently serves 2,345 students and has a student-to-teacher ratio of 19.29.
