Kentucky Derby and Oaks See Scratches as Races Approach
Louisville, KY – As the 152nd Kentucky Derby and the Kentucky Oaks draw near, both races have experienced changes to their fields with the scratching of key contenders. Silent Tactic has been withdrawn from Derby contention due to a bruised foot, even as My Miss Mo will not compete in Friday’s Kentucky Oaks.
Silent Tactic Scratched from Kentucky Derby
John Oxley’s Silent Tactic has been scratched from the Kentucky Derby 152 given that of a bruised foot, as announced on Wednesday, April 29, 2026. According to the Kentucky Derby website, the horse, trained by Mark Casse, was observed during a morning workout. Dass Garcia was the exercise rider.
With Silent Tactic’s withdrawal, Great White, owned by Three Chimneys Farm and trained by John Ennis, will draw into the 20-horse field from the also-eligible list.
My Miss Mo Withdrawn from Kentucky Oaks
Trainer Saffie Joseph Jr. Has scratched My Miss Mo from the Longines Kentucky Oaks, scheduled for Friday, May 1. Churchill Downs confirmed the scratch on Wednesday, April 29, 2026. My Miss Mo was previously positioned in the 6th post position with 20-1 odds and was to be ridden by jockey Micah Husbands.
Nycon will now enter the Kentucky Oaks field in My Miss Mo’s place. This makes My Miss Mo the second horse to be scratched from the Oaks race, following Bottle of Rouge’s earlier withdrawal.
Other Derby Contenders Update
Pin Oak Stud’s Albus and Incredibolt galloped a mile over a saturated track following the track’s opening for morning training. Trainer Riley Mott noted the decision to train early was due to the track conditions. Antonio Garcia was aboard Albus, while Charlotte O’Connell partnered with Incredibolt. Both horses schooled in the paddock on Tuesday afternoon.

Chief Wallabee, owned by Mike and Kay Kay Ball, completed a mile and a half under Marvin Orantes. Trainer Bill Mott also has reigning Horse of the Year and 2025 Kentucky Derby winner Sovereignty in the Derby.
Looking Ahead
The Kentucky Derby is scheduled for Saturday, May 2, at 6:57 p.m. The field continues to accept shape as post time approaches, with adjustments being made due to unforeseen circumstances like injuries and track conditions.
